La Jolla Residence

Private Residence, La Jolla Scenic Drive South, San Diego CA 92037, 2015-2017
9,000 square feet
Adroit Energy was the design build installer of a geothermal ground source heat pump system with radiant floor heating, fan coil cooling, solar thermal system, with a 22 kW PV array for this private La Jolla Residence, striving towards net zero.  While not 100% net zero, an average of 80% of energy for electricity and domestic hot water is generated on site.  I was project manager that oversaw the design engineering and installation.  Additionally I personally performed the geothermal design calculations, wrote the sequence of operation for the direct digital controls system, and commissioned the system.

Geothermal Heat Pump

The Ecoforest geothermal heat pump, imported from Spain, with new variable speed compressor technology eliminates the need for buffer tanks in a geothermal system and provides the highest efficiency.  While providing 100 °F radiant heated water for radiant floor heating, winter performance was as high as 7.2 COP.
